ARTIST STATEMENT: Patricia Stafford In July of 2019, I taught art classes to children at the Little Red School House in Berea, Ohio as part of the Kids Summer Art Camp, sponsored by the Berea Fine Arts Club. Students ranged in age from 1st grade through 5th grade. Together we created abstract acrylic paintings on 9x12 canvas board. We even had an old-fashioned hand bell to ring to start the day and signal when it was time for recess! Since December of 2020, I’ve presented several live demos of abstract acrylic painting online for the Berea Fine Arts Club. "Serenity Storm," a mixed-media acrylic abstract painting, won an award for Best of Show at an exhibit called "Creative Women Today." The exhibit was held in March of 2017 at the Creative Space Avon art gallery in Avon, Ohio. The painting sold off the wall before the opening reception. My mixed-media acrylic abstract painting "Once" won an Honorable Mention award in the Professional Division at the 2017 Community of Fine Arts Show sponsored by the Westlake-Westshore Arts Council and held at the Porter Public Library. "On a Wing and a Prayer," a fine art photo of mine, won third place at a photography show at Stella's Art Gallery in Mentor, Ohio in September of 2018 and then went on to win a People's Choice Award at the 35th Annual Juried Exhibition at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in October of 2018. I was selected by the North Olmsted Arts Commission to have my art on display for a solo show at North Olmsted City Hall from September 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017. The artwork consisted of twenty landscape and nature scenes including painterly photography and abstract paintings. My artwork has been on display in juried exhibits at art galleries and museums, including:
